Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all quality and production processes are optimised to meet the required manufacturing standards whilst meeting the objectives of the business. The Production Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all shop floor machinery is maintained and processes are followed and controlled.Job Requirements
Provide technical input at quotation stage. Define and produce, Routings, optimum batch sizes and cycle times. Ensure these are correctly set up in Macola. Advise on BOM structures. Assist Manufacturing/Production Manager and Shop Floor Supervisors in resolving manufacturing quality and process issues. Define tooling requirements for new products: - a.Specify, verify and purchase SMT Stencils. b.Produce Equipment Programs for SMT Europlacer, Comparator and other Production and some Test Equipment. c.Produce Reflow Profiles. d.Identify special tooling requirements to aid manufacture. e.Monthly inspection of all hand tools in the Production Department f.Design and manufacture Jigs and Fixtures. Define and produce process notes. Optimising processes to reduce inventory and WIP. Provide training and technical support for Automatic Optical Inspection equipment and comparator. Implement new lean manufacturing initiatives to ensure non value added activities are reduced in all manufacturing processes, such as cell manufacturing, 5S, Value Steam Mapping. Carry out operator training. Provide 'Design for Manufacture' advice both internally and externally.Further Details
The Production Engineer will be educated to at least Degree level in Production Engineering or associated subject. You will have proven experience/track record in an Electronics Production engineering role. You will need excellent technical skills and be able to design production jigs/fixtures. Experience of Production processes and documentation of work instructions. Experience of SMT/AOI/ Machine Soldering equipment is desirable. Computer literate (Word, Excel). Good written and verbal communication. Able to work unsupervised. Able to write documents of a technical nature. Attention to detail. Logical approach. Able to prioritise and work in an organised manner. Able to work under pressure to strict deadlines. Able to inspire and motivate work teams. Reliable and dependable – persistent and dedicated. You will to able to work overtime at short notice. Able to occasionally work weekends. Able to travel nationally.
